My first SO50 QSL from Heldur ES6SW

SO50 , is the first paper QSL from Heldur ES6SW

I am operating via satellite SO50 for a week using Baofeng UV-5R plus two band Moxon-Yagi antenna with very good results: ES5CC  ES6SW  ES6DO  LY2SS  G6AHX  ON5NY  OM7OM  DG0ER F0EQE  RX3QQL RW3ADB  F5HO  LZ1KG  ON2VHF .

It was noticed that on low elevations if antenna is lowered to the ground reception is greatly improved (RS from 53 to 59).  Try it!

SO-50 and UV5R - success!

Two QSOs today: ON5NY and ES5CC.

Note: comparing to UV3R, the 5th is less comfortable to operate (buttons instead rotary switch)  and it feels slower switching channels.
Oh and there was also story how to program that UV5 - fake serial cable chip, stock and Chirp software oh boy... But at the end - victory!

SO 50 , LY2SS , QSO with G4VXE

Antenna was designed for SO-50 satellite operation.

It has gains 4 dBd on 2m and 6.5 dBd on 70cm bands  and it is fed via single 50 Ohm cable.

All elements made from aluminium welding 3.2 mm rod. 

4 mm material can be used with no problem.
